Matachina dancers are from the Jemez Pueblo. I was allowed to photograph them during this special ceremony off the pueblo. They were having a ceremony to honor a man who had played fiddle in the band that supports the dancers. He had played fiddle for them for most of his adult life. This was not open to the public. I received an invitation to the envent. The ceremony was held at the church in Ponderosa, New Mexico, so photos were allowed. If the dancers perform on the Jemez reservation, photos are not allowed.
